Day 960 - Multiple Versions of You

There aren’t enough hours in the day. You only have two hands. There’s only one of you.

Take your pick. You could protest about your lack of time by using any one of the above gripes when you have too much work to do.

But what if you could make hours, grow more hands, or multiply yourself? I’m not talking about sending your evil twin to school in your place. I am, however, poking at how you might turn a stressful plea into strategic progress.

When your volume of work swells, so too does your awareness of all the tasks or meetings you seem to take part in. Repeatedly. Needlessly. You’re on autopilot, gliding through what comes naturally to you, silently screaming into the flight recorder, wishing you were spending that time elsewhere.

To help me spin more plates without allowing any one of them to smash, I’m turning to video. I’m recording more of me, during my best, so that being spread thin never leaves me delivering my worst. I can be giving a lecture to one audience and writing a grant for another. Workshopping software and teaching chemistry. Fielding FAQs and finding more time for family.

Consider hitting the red button. The result of ‘you.mp4’ is the feeling of having more hours, more hands, and more to give.

How might you make more versions of you to maximise the best of you?
