Day 980 - The Induction Period
The top of one mountain is said to be the bottom of the next.
That’s all well and good if you stand ready to tie your boots with bitesized motivational wisdom. It’s less helpful when you’re not sure whether you’re on an incline at all.
For the times when the climb took longer, when the steps were smaller and the mud was deeper than ever expected, look back down the path at how gentle the onramp was. It appears as long as it does distant now. Back down there, you barely had to lean into it at all. Where you on a mountain or a mole hill? Where might you be if you mistook the near horizontal wanderings for an aimless trail to be escaped?
Imagine if you never took the first step…
Take pleasure from wandering the scenic route before the saunter turns to a scramble. The steep ascent to the top won’t come as quickly as you’re prepared for. Come sun, snow, or sky-splitting thunder, the summit won’t be going anywhere so long as your patience doesn’t fall out your backpack.
Stay the course a little longer. Make sure you’re on one before jumping off.
How might you start more quickly along a gentle rise to give you the time you need to ever reach the top?
