Day 215 - Unsolicited Advice

Donate

Unsolicited advice is advice that will never be heard or actioned. That’s a statement that is in danger of being hypocritical, on a platform like this one especially. The podcast, the blogs, the videos, all of it comes together to look like a big steaming pile of unsolicited advice.

But advice can be gifted without being pushed. Prompts can be provided without being prophecies of absolute truth.

Yes, I’m an absolute ‘Try Hard’, but I love trying out all these different ways of publishing, refining all the different ways I can try to say the same thing. And, without recourse to metricising the whole experience under likes and comment threads, the hope will always be that at least one person finds value.

These thoughts on advice hark back to the subtle but important differences being mentoring and coaching.

Everyone wants to come to their own realisation on the matters the hold most dear. Don’t steal the penny before it drops.

Consider how your own advice and experience might be offered without being ordered.

If you have a question for Marc, upload an audio recording for it to be featured on a later Q&A episode!
