About Jake
Jake completed his BSc(hons) in Chemistry at the University of Glasgow in 2016, finishing his final year undergraduate project in the Forgan Group, synthesising Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) with coordinating functional struts. He continued working in the group for a summer project looking at urea functionalised MOFs before starting his PhD that same year in the Sproules Group at the University of Glasgow. His PhD focussed on the investigation of ligand radical coordination complexes as electron-spin qubits, particularly bis(dithiolene)s. Finishing his PhD in 2020 Jake is now the first PDRA in the Reid Group, investigating catalyst deactivation with in-house computer vision software. Jake’s research interests include quantum technologies, electronic structure, electron paramagnetic resonance, and organometallic and coordination chemistry.
