Day 865 - Don’t Wait for Brilliance

It might not be your best work…but focus on always sharing your latest effort.

After the unmistakable euphoria of shipping something valuable, comes the worry of whether or not you’ll ever be able to do it again.

When it’s time for the next project, you realise that you were never climbing a mountain the first time. You were on a cycle, and now round you go. You’re passed the peak, hurtling towards the trough. It’s so scary you don’t yet notice the momentum carrying you back to the top again. Not yet.

At this point on your latest project, you are convinced that everything you produce sucks. Everything you touch, type, or utter. Substandard. You are fixated on the past joy of your finest edit and under valuing the need for new creations.

Every next project starts with you being your own worst critic. Beware of that critic becoming a gatekeeper.

Allow your work to suck, so long as it keeps coming, keeps being.

Don’t wait for brilliance. Only consistency will do.

How will you avoid putting off your next project?
